Living, working, studying or volunteering overseas can be incredibly rewarding. MI International understands the value of international mobility opportunities and we are dedicated to finding ways of getting our faculty, staff, students and graduates involved overseas.
Listed below are some of our ongoing international mobility initiatives:
Global Skills Opportunity (GSO) is a part of the Government of Canada’s new International Education Strategy, which aims at providing Canadian post-secondary students with learning opportunities and experiences at home and abroad. This 3-year program will allow Marine Institute students to obtain international experiences and build a network with our partners overseas. GSO is funded by Employment and Social Development Canada, administered jointly through Colleges and Institutes Canada and Universities Canada.
The International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) offers youth the opportunity to gain valuable international work experience through 4-month internship placements with partner organizations in Africa, the Caribbean, Asia, and Central America.
The MI Mobility Initiative (MIMI) is a 3-year program designed to provide faculty and staff with little to no international experience opportunities to participate in overseas deployments. Relevant opportunities are identified and coordinated through MI International in collaboration with the schools and units.
There are also numerous funded and unfunded international opportunities available through other organizations. We encourage you to explore some of the opportunities that exist outside of the Marine Institute.
