A New Vision for the Future of the Marine Institute
The Marine Institute (MI) is a future focused organization that offers an unparalleled breadth of research, training, and academic expertise across the oceans sectors. As it enters the next phase of its evolution MI has developed a new vision to shape its goals and decisions while solidifying its reputation for oceans-related excellence.
Driven by its mission to foster economic development while understanding the importance of the oceans to Newfoundland and Labrador’s cultural and economic heritage, MI is well-positioned to serve as the province’s strongest asset in realizing its global ambition in the oceans economy. The Institute’s new vision is reflective of this role and that the success of MI is Newfoundland and Labrador’s success as well.
The development of this vision encompassed an extensive process that included a review of MI’s previous strategic plan, Vision 2020, in addition to a detailed horizon scan of the global oceans economy to identify the areas of growth and promise within this economy.
