Student Support
You can help a student fulfill their dreams through higher education. Scholarships, bursaries and awards may be named after the donor or in memory of a special person or event. Alternatively, supporting a special project can give a unique experience that changes lives. Student support gifts can benefit undergraduate or graduate students, or both.
Teaching and Research
The foundation of exceptional learning is exceptional teaching and research. Gifts to establish chairs, professorships, lectureships and to assist research are ways to help attract and retain top faculty members and researchers.
Equipment and Facilities
High quality teaching and learning requires modern teaching and learning spaces. Gifts designated to classroom technology, infrastructure upgrades, specialized resources and building expansions are but a few examples of how your support can help ensure our university is modern and world-class.
Area of Greatest Need
Some of the most valuable gifts to the university are unrestricted funds that enable us to direct funding to the areas of greatest need. Arrangements can be made to direct your gift to a specific project or purpose. Depending on the amount, your gift can also be used to establish an endowment fund, the income of which is used to support a particular purpose in perpetuity.
Marine Institute Scholarship Fund
There is a long history of MI faculty, staff, alumni and friends contributing to the Marine Institute Scholarship Fund, which enables student support and celebrating student success. The funding may be awarded to scholarship eligible students in any MI program. Hundreds of MI students have benefited from generous donors giving to this fund since its inception.
Marine Institute Student Emergency Fund
The Marine Institute Student Emergency fund assists full-time, undergraduate students who have been impacted financially by devastating, catastrophic or unforeseen circumstances. By giving to the Marine Institute Student Emergency Fund you are helping a student in need stay the course in their academic program, giving them the supportive hand they need to continue their studies and succeed. Funds are made available to eligible students who contact the MI student support office. Request for support are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
