Industry partners from the fishing industry will hold a news conference today to officially launch and discuss a fisheries safety video Getting Back Home
The video was produced in partnership with the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission (WHSCC), the Canadian Centre for Fisheries Innovation (CCFI) and the Professional Fish Harvesters Certification Board (PFHCB).
The Fisheries and Marine Institute (MI) of Memorial University was contracted to produce the video in conjunction with Distance Education and Learning Technologies (DELT). The conference will take place in Hampton Hall at the Fisheries and Marine Institute today, Monday, May 17 at 11:30 a.m.
Clyde Jackman, minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture; Leslie Galway, chief executive officer, Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission; Bill Broderick, chairperson, Professional Fish Harvesters Certification Board; Robert Verge, managing director, Canadian Centre for Fisheries Innovation and Glenn Blackwood, MI's executive director will each provide an address. During the news conference, a twelve minute trailer of the video will be shown while the full- length version will be shown directly following the event in Hampton Hall.
