The Marine Institute is set to bring together industry partners, students and alumni at its eighth annual Career Fair on Feb. 10 and 11
Companies from across the country will gather at MI to meet current Marine Institute students and past MI graduates. Organizations representing the marine transportation, ocean technology, aquaculture and food industries will be on hand throughout the two-day event
“The MI Career Fair will give students and alumni the opportunity to learn more about current and future career opportunities while also having the chance to network with representatives from a variety of companies,” said Glenn Blackwood, executive director, Marine Institute. “Students and alumni from programs such as nautical science, marine engineering, food technology, naval architecture, marine environment, aquaculture, ROV and ocean instrumentation will have a chance to showcase themselves to potential employers that are looking for well educated and well trained employees.”
Companies from across the country will gather at MI to meet current Marine Institute students and past MI graduates. Organizations representing the marine transportation, ocean technology, aquaculture and food industries will be on hand throughout the two-day event.
“The knowledge and skills possessed by our students and graduates will be on display for some of the top companies in Canada,” Blackwood said. “It reflects highly of the Marine Institute that we can continue to attract such a high caliber of industry representatives for our career fair. These companies only hire the best and brightest and the fact they come here seeking to meet MI students and alumni is a compliment to everyone at the Marine Institute.”
The Marine Institute Career Fair kicks off Wednesday, Feb. 10 with Company and Alumni Presentations in Hampton Hall from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Industry representatives and alumni will be given the opportunity to display their successes, with presentations scheduled throughout the day highlighting employment opportunities and profiling industry partnerships. Presentations will continue on Feb. 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Also on Feb. 11, the Career Fair Exhibition takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the MI gymnasium. Students will have the opportunity to meet exhibitors and discuss their company and career opportunities available for both work term and full-time employment.
“The general public is encouraged to attend, as this is a great way to learn more about the marine and ocean industries and how they are contributing to this province’s economic development and employment growth,” Blackwood added.
