To apply complete the online application.
Apply as early as possible. For application deadlines please see the specific program.
In the Bridge Watch program, you’ll acquire academic skills, marine safety training, sea experience, and hands-on training. You’ll be doing this by using facilities in our rigging room and on our training vessel. We work hard to train you to be effective members of a ship’s watch, both on deck and on the bridge.
Our goal is to prepare you to receive the Transport Canada’s Bridge Watch Rating Certificate, making you employable as a deckhand in the marine industry.
Visit the Marine Institute Academic Calendar for complete program structure and course details.
Candidates for admission to the Technical Certificate - Bridge Watch Program must have successfully completed, at a minimum, a High School diploma; a grade 11 Public Examination Matriculation Certificate; a Level III Adult Basic Education (ABE) Certificate; or other qualifications judged by the Marine Institute to be high school equivalent.
Proof of physical fitness must be provided by way of a signed Seafarer’s medical. As well, candidates must submit a clear Certificate of Conduct (a certified criminal record check).
