The Marine Institute’s Master of Marine Studies (Water Resource Management) will focus your career to become a water resource specialist and a vital contributor for the conservation and enhancement of water resources globally. Designed to address the pressing challenges of water resource management, this program equips you with advanced technical skills and knowledge to tackle complex environmental issues.
From understanding emerging policies and issues to implementing effective strategies for water resource management, you’ll gain the expertise to promote environmental protection and sustainability. With its interdisciplinary approach, this program prepares you to make meaningful contributions across diverse sectors and organizations.
Students will complete seven core courses, four elective courses, and an internship over two years. The first year includes on campus courses and a 12-week internship to provide practical, real-world experience. The second-year courses will normally be offered online, providing flexibility for students.
Admission is limited and competitive. To be considered for admission to the program, an applicant will normally possess a relevant second-class or better undergraduate degree, from a university of recognized standing.
Minimum Admissions Requirements
Master of Marine Studies (Water Resource Management) - Bachelor’s degree (minimum second class) in a relevant area of study; applicants will normally have completed undergraduate courses in chemistry and statistics. Up to two seats per year are reserved for applicants of Indigenous ancestry who have met the admission requirements but are not in the top ranked candidates. The minimum TOEFL scores are: 580 for the paper-based test; 237 on the computer-based test; or 92 on the Internet-based test. The minimum IELTS score is an overall band score of 7.0. The minimum Duolingo English Test is 125.
